Member Spotlight: Meet Troy Lockyear
Learn about Troy Lockyear, one of our newer members!
Troy grew up in England and moved to California at 18 to attend UC Berkeley, where he played rugby as a student-athlete. After four years there, Troy signed with New York’s professional rugby team and played four seasons, helping the franchise win its first national championship. Troy retired at the end of 2023 and soon after met Richard Sexton, who brought me onto the Office Concierge team as an Associate in tenant advisory. Now, Troy represents companies looking for their perfect office space in New York and beyond.
How did you get involved with SGSNY?
I first learned about St. George’s through my CEO, Richard Sexton. He invited me to an event early in 2024, and I’ve been involved ever since.
What’s your favorite part of being an SGSNY member?
It brings me back to my English roots. I’ve been in New York for 10 years now, and it’s important to stay connected to where you come from.
How has being part of SGSNY helped you as a newer New Yorker (personally and/or professionally)?
Both professionally and personally, I’ve really enjoyed connecting with fellow Brits in NYC. There’s a great energy among the group—it’s full of forward-thinking, positive people doing exciting things. It’s a real reminder of how many different ways you can thrive in this city.
What’s your favorite place in NYC? Favorite food or meal you’ve had since moving here?
Training for the marathon and running loops around Central Park last year was hard to beat. That said, one of my favorite New York nights is dinner at Wayan—a beautiful French-Indonesian spot—followed by a show at the Comedy Cellar. It doesn’t get much better than that.
